Letter from U.S. Public Health Service Promises $30 to Participate in Study: Scam or Legit?

At the beginning of the year I received a letter from the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) stating it's conducting a national study on health-related issues and my address was randomly selected along with more than 200,000 others. The letter said Research Triangle Institute (RTI) is contracted to conduct the study and a representative will visit me. The letter provided the interviewer's name and stated she'd have an identification badge. All members of my household (me) would be asked a few questions and if qualified, I'd be asked to complete a survey and be compensated $30. With all the scams going around I wasn't sure if this was legit. I Googled the phone number provided (800-848-4079) and found it did belong to Research Triangle Institute. I also found some message boards where users posted they didn't think it sounded legit and kind of scammy. I forgot about it until last night, around 6:30 the doorbell rang. All Aflutter About Butterflies in Orlando

Today was the BlogOrlando unconference at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. (Orlando). I'm extremely excited about the energy I absorbed, ideas generated and information learned and can't wait to go QKG2.0 - it's about time. But a recap of BlogOrlando is for another time (and so is EPCOT's International Food & Wine Festival. Now that I'm thinking, one is due about Gatlinburg, oy!). During lunch, we were on our own and I had intentions of wandering to the Morse Museum but being navigationally challenged, I ended up in the opposite direction of where I was suppose to go. My Two Cents About ABC's The Bachelor Jason Mesnick

If you're not in the reality T.V. know, ABC's The Bachelor Season 13 Jason Mesnick flip-flopped on his decision of which woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with last night (well, he decided six weeks ago, the episode aired last night). When the show was down to two women, he proposed marriage to Melissa but last night he dumped Melissa for Molly, whom he originally rejected for Melissa. Are ya with me? Talk shows and the blogosphere have been burning up with comments saying Mesnick was wrong to propose marriage to Melissa and wrong to dump her on national television. I've seen some comments saying it was a cowardly act. I support his decision of breaking up with Melissa, he's realized Molly's the one for him (at least for right now). Here are my overall thoughts on the matter: Mesnick should never have been on The Bachelor or the preceding The Bachelorette because he has a kid. How confusing for that poor child!
