Topping Out with the Rays in Port Charlotte

Yesterday was a topping out ceremony at the Charlotte Sports Park (aka: Charlotte County Stadium), which happens to be the new spring training baseball facility for the Tampa Bay Rays (beginning Feb. 2009). What's a topping out ceremony? It's when the last beam is placed on a newly constructed building.

Charlotte County Commissioners were present along with Michael Kalt, Tampa Bay Rays' Senior Vice President of Development and Business Affairs. Part of the ceremony included signing the beam to be placed at the top of building and guess what? I got to sign the beam! I will live in infamy at the Charlotte Sports Park!

Enjoy the photos and get ready to play ball this spring. Go Rays!
